Yogi’s daily life consists of searching for food in Jellystone Park. He prefers sandwiches and chocolate cake over fish and berries. Yogi calls himself ‘smarter than the average bear.’ Always at his side are Boo Boo and his girlfriend Cindy Bear, whom he started dating from the second season.

The Yogi Bear series first appeared as a part of the Huckleberry Hound Show in November 1958. Minor characters in the first Yogi cartoons were Boo Boo and Ranger Smith. The first voice of Yogi Bear was Daws Butler, with Don Messick doing Boo Boo and the Ranger. Then there is Yogi’s southern-belle bruin girl, Cindy Bear, which voice was done by Julie Bennet.
The main character designer was Ed Benedict, while Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera themselves produced and directed. On January 30th, 1961 The Yogi Bear Show finally appeared.

Theme Song Lyrics

Yogi Bear is smarter than the average bear
Yogi Bear is always in the Ranger’s hair
At a picnic table you will find him there
Stuffing down more goodies than the average bear
He will sleep till noon but before it’s dark
He’ll have every picnic basket left in Jellystone Park
Yogi has it better than a millionaire
That’s because he’s smarter than the average bear
