Lars the little polar bear is probably the most famous polar bear in the world. He’s created by Dutchman Hans de Beer. Lars isn’t a hero, he looks for his own way in life, is allowed to make mistakes and isn’t expected to know everything. He experiences many adventures. Sometimes along, sometimes with a friend.
The first story book was published in 1987 from Nord-Süd Verlag in Switzerland and lots followed. They have been translated in around 27 languages and have sold more the 10 million copies all over the world. The little polar bear named Lars has become a most loved character to everybody.
Between 1992 en 1995, German television broadcasted 26 eposides of the cartoon program. In 2001 a cartoon movie with Lars hit the movie-theaters and became a great hit in the German speaking countries.
