Amigurumi zijn kleine, gehaakte of gebreide poppetjes. De Amigurmi wordt doorgaans uit garen gemaakt, met een kleine haaknaald, zodat de stof dicht genoeg blijft om te worden gevuld, en het object zelf niet te groot wordt. Het lijf en het hoofd wordt doorgaans uit een stuk gemaakt, eventuele ledematen worden apart gehaakt en daarna aan het lijf bevestigd.

- Increase (inc): Meerderen door uit 1 steek 2 steken te breien
- Popcorn (pc): Haak 4 stk (of het aantal dat het patroon vermeldt.) in 1 vaste maar wacht met de laatste doorhaling van ieder stokje tot er 5 st op de haak zijn. Haal nu de draad door alle 5 st op de haak (dus 4 stk worden samengehaakt tot 1 stk). Ga verder met 1 st in iedere st tot de volgende bobbel.
- Single crochet two together (sc2tog): Maak een enkele steek van meerdere steken, zodat die gereduceerd worden tot één steek.
